Roast Dinner at McKendrick’s
Good times, good food, good fellowship
Phnom Penh- Cambodia Jan 2013 .
Myself , Becky, Rod Cope and tuk tuk driver Rith went to a whole street full of motor cycles and bought a 2010 Daelim Racing 100cc motorcycle. ( Honda replica ) .The money CMA had donated for Bikes for Pastors through Becky to Rod Cope , Rod had earmarked for this purchase and it was a great day for us to be instrumental in actually choosing a bike from hundreds . Once chosen the bike was then fitted with mirrors ,pegs ,rear platform seat ,new battery ,small fairing ,oil change ,checked from end to end ,paid for and it was then ours for $650 . We then stopped at a helmet shop to buy a nice new helmet to go with the bike , another $12 well spent. One of Rod’s Cambodian guys rode the bike home to Rod and Cheryl’s on the back streets. I also had to dink Rod home from the New Smile Orphanage so I had the experience of riding in the chaotic traffic. A couple of days later we loaded the bike into Rod’s van and drove for 2 and a half hours to Kampong Chnang Province .We turned off the main road and drove down a sandy bike track to deliver our prize to Pastor Sith in his extremely poor rural village. Cambodians don’t do cart wheels of joy but the appreciation and pleasure on Pastor Sith’s face was unmistakable . This bike will now enable him to visit all his surrounding villages and small church groups and is a great example of what Bikes for Pastors is all about.
Many thanks to CMA and the gold coin donation for making this purchase possible for Pastor Sith. Photos attached tell the story.
